Intel To Make Custom AI Chip For Amazon Web Services

Intel Corp. and Amazon Web Services announce a major co-investment in custom chip designs worth billions of dollars. This collaboration includes an AI fabric chip and custom Xeon 6 chip on Intel’s most advanced process nodes.

The partnership between Intel and AWS aims to boost semiconductor manufacturing and create a dynamic AI ecosystem in Ohio. Intel is committed to building cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing, while AWS plans to invest $7.8 billion in expanding data center operations in Central Ohio.

Intel and AWS plan to explore future designs based on Intel’s advanced process nodes, including Intel 18A and Intel 14A. Additionally, Intel receives up to $3 billion in funding from the Biden-Harris Administration for the Secure Enclave program to enhance trusted semiconductor manufacturing for the government.

Intel Foundry continues to advance with cutting-edge technology like Intel 18A set for production in 2025. The company is making significant progress in semiconductor manufacturing across various facilities in Arizona, New Mexico, Ohio, and Oregon.
