Japan stocks closed lower on Monday, with the Nikkei falling 0.68%. Top performers included Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Kuraray Co., and Shiseido Co. On the other hand, Astellas Pharma, Konami Corp., and Ajinomoto Co. were among the worst performers. Kuraray hit a 5-year high. The Nikkei volatility index rose 7.82%.

In commodities, crude oil and Brent oil prices rose slightly, while December Gold Futures also saw an increase. The USD/JPY pair was down 0.46% at 140.17, and EUR/JPY fell 0.27% to 155.62. The US Dollar Index Futures dipped 0.28% to 100.51. Overall, falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
