Japanese stock market slightly higher, with gains in tech stocks but weakness in exporters

The Japanese stock market is slightly higher on Friday, just below the 39,000 mark, with gains in tech stocks but weakness in exporters and financials. The Nikkei 225 is up 0.09% at 38,961.07. SoftBank and Fast Retailing are down, while Advantest and Tokyo Electron are up. Mitsubishi UFJ and Mizuho Financial are down, while Mitsubishi Electric is up. Overall consumer prices in Tokyo were up 2.2% in September. The U.S. dollar is trading in the lower 145 yen-range. On Wall Street, the S&P 500, Dow, and Nasdaq rose on Thursday.
In Europe, the CAC 40, DAX, and FTSE 100 all moved higher. Crude oil prices fell on concerns about excess supply as OPEC plans to increase production levels.
