Astar Network’s Shibuya testnet rolls out an update with new asynchronous backing, cutting block time in half to 6 seconds and increasing max block weight to 2 seconds. This enhancement boosts transaction speed and volume for dApps on the network, supporting a million transactions per second and increased blockspace production.
The upgrade offers better efficiency by reusing failed parachain blocks and promises 8 times the throughput with increased transaction volume per block. Despite these advancements, DOT’s price only rose by 1.16% in the past 24 hours, settling at around $4.23. Polkadot’s Join-Accumulate Machine (JAM) Gray Paper was also recently released.
Shibuya, Astar Network’s parachain testnet, resembles the mainnets Shiden and Astar with EVM capabilities. It provides an ideal testing ground for developers looking to launch their dApps on the mainnet. Astar Network, a Polkadot parachain, supports dApp development with EVM and WASM smart contracts, with the ability to interact across multiple blockchains for greater versatility.
