From CNBC: 2024-09-07 08:00:01

With new offerings from Tesla, Ford, GM, and Rivian, the U.S. auto industry is seeing a surge in $100,000+ electric pickup trucks. While traditionally priced trucks offer superior capabilities, EVs are pricier due to advanced technologies like costly batteries. The market is small but growing, with 58,000 sold in first half of 2021.

The Tesla Cybertruck features innovative design and technology, while the GMC Hummer EV is fast, big, and less efficient. GM’s Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra Denali also offer high-end models near $100,000, with a range of 440 miles, up to 754 horsepower, and unique features like a “midgate” for expanded truck bed space.

Rivian’s R1T and R1S stand out for outdoor adventure and lifestyle with improved ride and quality in the second generation. The Ford F-150 Lightning is more affordable, with a starting price of $63,000, driving like a traditional F-150 but powered by electricity. These electric trucks are reshaping the automotive industry.
