Seven public companies have agreed to pay a total of $3 million to settle SEC charges related to violating whistleblower protections. TransUnion will pay $312,000, while Acadia Healthcare will pay $1.39 million. The companies were charged for actions that impeded individuals from communicating with the regulator about possible securities law violations. All firms have made changes to rectify the situation.
TransUnion stated they cooperated with the SEC and are making changes to ensure employees understand their rights. Other companies involved did not immediately comment. Additional penalties include: a.k.a. Brands Holding Corp $399,750, AppFolio Inc $692,250, IDEX Corp $75,000, LSB Industries $156,000, and Smart for Life Inc $19,500 in civil penalties.
