Inflation in the US rose slightly in August, with core prices up 0.1% from July and 2.7% year-over-year. Consumer spending increased 0.1%. Analysts see a “soft landing” for the economy, with the PCE price index showing mild inflation.
China’s stimulus announcements and Japan’s yen rebounded as Shigeru Ishiba won leadership. Europe’s Stoxx 600 climbed, but German bond yields fell due to low inflation, hinting at ECB rate cuts. Oil stabilized after a drop, gold saw third weekly gain.
