Boeing delivers 33 jets in September but strike impact looms
From CNBC: 2024-10-08 11:00:01
Boeing delivered 33 airplanes in September, including 27 737 Max aircraft. The ongoing machinist strike has impacted delivery numbers, with only 291 aircraft handed over through September, compared to 371 in the same period last year. Airbus has delivered 447 planes this year through August.
Many of the 737 Max planes were delivered before the strike began, limiting its impact. If the strike ends in October, Boeing is projected to produce 25 Max aircraft per month, delaying the planned ramp-up to 38 Maxes a month by a year. Boeing will report quarterly results on Oct. 23.
In addition to the 27 737 Max planes, Boeing delivered 4 787 Dreamliners in September. The company also logged 66 gross orders for new aircraft during the month. Boeing’s backlog currently stands at 5,456 aircraft. Boeing faced issues earlier this year after a door plug on a new 737 Max 9 blew out in January.
