Chinese smartphone maker Oppo in weekly AI talks with Google, Microsoft

Chinese smartphone company Oppo is ranked second in mainland China and fourth worldwide according to Canalys. The company is focusing on artificial intelligence, collaborating with Google and Microsoft to develop AI applications. Oppo’s upcoming flagship phone will utilize AI tools from Google and Microsoft, with a focus on consumer needs.
Oppo plans to integrate generative AI into 50 million devices this year, with existing AI tools for tasks like photo editing. The company has developed its own AI models since 2020 and opened an AI center in February. Counterpoint Research predicts a significant growth in AI smartphone shipments by 2028.
In addition to smartphones, Oppo plans to integrate AI into its factories to improve production efficiency. Automation in factories reduces costs and increases productivity, with plans to expand the digital management system to factories in other countries. Oppo has successfully reduced manufacturing costs by 40% over three years and streamlined production processes.
