Ford to halt production of electric F-150 Lightning until 2025

Ford Motor will halt production of the F-150 Lightning from mid-November to early next year due to bloated inventories and losses. The shutdown at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Detroit will last seven weeks, affecting roughly 730 hourly workers. Sales of the electric vehicle have not met expectations, leading to a reported loss of $5 billion for Ford’s Model e EV operations this year. Ford plans to reduce production of the F-150 Lightning by half this year, emphasizing profitability over volume. The company aims to lower its overall days’ supply of vehicles to meet target ranges.
