Hilton hotel workers strike in Seattle for higher wages and fair staffing

Over a hundred Hilton hotel workers in Seattle are striking for higher wages, fair staffing, and the reversal of COVID-19 era cuts, according to Unite Here union. The strike will last till early hours of October 19, involving 374 workers at two Seattle hotels. A total of 4,300 workers from Hilton, Hyatt, and Marriott are on strike in Honolulu, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle.
About 2,000 workers protested in September at Hilton’s largest hotel, the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu. A total of 10,000 U.S. hotel workers participated in a multi-day strike this Labor Day weekend. Unite Here represents workers in hotels, casinos, and airports throughout the United States and Canada. Hilton has not yet responded to the strike.
