IBM released its latest artificial intelligence models, “Granite 3.0,” geared towards businesses. They will be open-source, in contrast to competitors who charge for access. IBM’s Watsonx tool allows customizing and running these models in data centers. Some variants are available for commercial use on Monday, with others on Nvidia’s software tools.

The new Granite models were trained on Nvidia’s H100 GPUs. IBM aims to capitalize on the increasing adoption of generative AI technology by enterprises. The open-source approach sets them apart from rivals like Microsoft. Watsonx is a paid tool that supports running customized models after training them.
