Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB) CEO Tabatha Bull discussed exporting challenges and barriers for Indigenous businesses at the WTO Forum, highlighting the Atamitowin report. The report shows a 12% increase in sales for Indigenous businesses that export. Indigenous SMEs are 7% less likely to export than non-Indigenous SMEs, indicating a need for more support.

CCIB’s first report, Adawe, revealed an export gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous SMEs. Despite progress, Bull emphasizes the importance of trade agreements, international partnerships, and Indigenous-focused trade programs. Indigenous businesses show a growing interest in trade and export, aiming to contribute to the global economy.

At the WTO Forum in Geneva, Bull joined a panel to discuss Indigenous trade experiences with participants from around the world. CCIB focuses on providing tools, training, and support for Indigenous businesses, with a strong emphasis on producing Indigenous-specific research to address the unique needs of the Indigenous economy.
