Chinese shares closed higher on Monday, with indexes up significantly

Chinese shares closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.16% at 3,576.88 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.45% higher at 14,443.56 points. The ChiNext Index, which tracks China’s NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 2.35% to close at 2,735.78 points. Stocks in Shanghai and Shenzhen saw turnover totaling 906.6 billion yuan (about 140.4 billion U.S. dollars).
