Alibaba International introduces Accio, an AI search engine for small businesses in Europe and the Americas. The tool uses ChatGPT-like tech to increase purchase intent by 40%. It analyzes popularity and profit of wholesale products and connects businesses with suppliers. The tool is based on Alibaba’s Tongyi Qianwen large language model.
Accio leverages data from 50 million businesses on Alibaba International’s platform and 1 billion product listings. It supports English, German, French, Portuguese, and Spanish. The tool targets businesses in Europe and North America, which are the largest group of buyers on Alibaba.com.
Alibaba’s international arm recently updated an AI translation tool to help merchants reach customers globally. The company claims its translation capabilities surpass Google, DeepL, and ChatGPT. Despite international growth, Alibaba’s main revenue driver remains its domestic e-commerce platforms Taobao and Tmall.
During the Singles Day shopping festival, over 500 merchants on Chinese e-commerce platforms used generative AI-enabled tools for customer service and content generation. A survey by Bain & Company found that 56% of respondents reported a “high positive impact” on productivity. Alibaba is set to report quarterly results on Friday.
