Australia stocks closed lower on Monday, with losses in various sectors. The ASX 200 declined by 0.35% in Sydney. Pointsbet Holdings Ltd and Omni Bridgeway Ltd were top gainers, while Resolute Mining Ltd and Champion Iron Ltd were top losers. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the exchange.

Appen Ltd hit a 52-week high, rising 6.15%, while Iluka Resources Ltd hit a 3-year low, falling 7.89%. The ASX 200 volatility index rose by 0.67%. Gold futures fell by 0.71% to $2,675.60 per ounce, while crude oil prices also dropped. The AUD/USD remained steady at 0.66.

Overall, the US Dollar Index Futures increased by 0.10% to 105.00.
