Caitlin Clark, WNBA player for the Indiana Fever, has joined an ownership group aiming to bring a National Women’s Soccer League team to Cincinnati, Ohio. The city is competing against Cleveland and Denver to become the 16th NWSL franchise. Clark, a rising star in the WNBA, was named Rookie of the Year in 2024.

The NWSL currently has 14 teams, with Boston’s BOS Nation Football Club set to join in 2026. Bay FC, a new team, spent $53 million on the NWSL expansion fee. Cleveland is also vying for the 16th spot, with plans for a $150 million stadium.

Clark’s involvement in the NWSL Cincinnati bid team has not been confirmed by the league. Her success in the WNBA, setting records for most assists and three-pointers by a rookie, highlights her impact as an athlete and role model. Cincinnati sees her as a key asset in their pursuit of a women’s pro soccer team.
