MMS, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, partners with Bankhaus Metzler for a BTC mining project using excess energy from renewable sources to stabilize Germany’s power grid. MMS handles mining systems while Bankhaus Metzler explores digital asset financial services. The pilot aims to evaluate larger projects and blockchain integration in the German energy sector.

Germany’s increasing use of renewable energy sources inspired the project to address power grid challenges. The pilot project will assess Bitcoin mining’s potential for energy regulation, similar to strategies in the U.S. and Finland. Regulated mining loads can utilize surplus energy during low demand, benefiting renewable energy producers.
