FAA bans U.S.-Haiti flights for 30 days

The FAA banned U.S. civilian flights to and from Haiti for 30 days after a Spirit Airlines plane was hit by gunfire while trying to land in Port-au-Prince. The ban also prohibits flights from traveling under 10,000 feet in Haiti’s airspace. Spirit Airlines Flight 951 diverted to the Dominican Republic with no passenger injuries reported. JetBlue Airways and American Airlines have also canceled flights to Haiti due to safety concerns. The U.S. State Department warned of gang-led efforts to disrupt travel in Port-au-Prince, including armed violence.
