Walmart, founded in 1962, has 45.5% shares held by Walton family. Schwarz Group, parent of Lidl and Kaufland, founded in 1930. LVMH, luxury goods group, founded in 1987, with Arnault family holding 48.8% shares. Nike, co-founded in 1964, with Knight family owning over 97% shares. Loblaw Companies, Canadian retailer, majority owned by Weston family.
L’Oréal, founded in 1909, with Bettencourt-Meyers family holding 34.8% shares. Elo, owner of Auchan, founded in 1961, with Mulliez family having 98% stake. HEB Grocery, founded in 1905, fully owned by Butt family. Rajesh Exports, founded in 1989, controlled by Mehta family. Inditex, founded in 1985, with Ortega family owning 59% shares. Aldi Group, founded in 1913, divided into ALDI Nord and ALDI Sued.
Mercadona, founded in 1977, wholly owned by Roig family. C&S Wholesale Grocers, founded in 1918, led by Cohen family. Jeronimo Martins, founded in the late 18th century, family owns over 56% shares. Empire Company, founded in 1907, family members still involved in management. H&M, founded in 1947, Persson family owns 61% shares. Richemont, formed in 1988, Rupert family controls 51% voting rights. Kering, family owns 42% shares and nearly 60% voting rights.
Loves Travel Stops, founded in 1964, owned by Love family. Fast Retailing, founded in 1949, controlled by Yanai family with 17.19% stake. Yanai aims to make Fast Retailing the world’s biggest fashion retailer.
