Japan stocks closed higher on Friday, with the Nikkei up 0.35%. Top gainers included Japan Steel Works Ltd (+7.12%) and Mizuho Financial Group Inc (+6.63%). Dentsu Inc. was among the worst performers, falling 14.59%. Mizuho Financial Group Inc reached 5-year highs, while Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. hit 5-year lows.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The Nikkei Volatility Index rose 7.41%. Crude oil prices fell, with December delivery down to $67.81 a barrel. Gold futures also dropped to $2,565.50 a troy ounce. USD/JPY decreased to 156.10, while EUR/JPY rose to 164.73. The US Dollar Index Futures was up at 106.62.
