Taiwan stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the Taiex gaining 1.34%. Top performers included Arima Communications Corp, up 10.00%, and Epileds Technologies Inc, up 9.96%. On the downside, HiTi Digital Inc fell 55.00%. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the exchange.

Arima Communications Corp hit 3-year highs, rising 10.00%, while Logah Technology Corp hit 3-year lows, falling 9.95%. Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.06% at $69.20 a barrel. Gold futures rose 0.30% to $2,638.95 a troy ounce.

In currency markets, USD/TWD rose 0.36% to 32.49, while TWD/CNY remained unchanged at 0.22. The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 106.22.
