Vaccine maker stocks fall as Trump chooses RFK Jr. to lead HHS

President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of vaccine skeptic Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead the Department of Health and Human Services caused shares of vaccine makers to plummet. Moderna’s stock closed over 5% lower, Novavax fell more than 7%, and Pfizer’s stock ended more than 2% lower. BioNTech and GSK also saw declines in their stock prices. Kennedy’s appointment could impact Covid vaccination rates and routine immunizations in the U.S. Pfizer, Moderna, and Novavax are still recovering from falling Covid vaccination rates in the U.S. Kennedy’s history as a vaccine skeptic and founder of Children’s Health Defense raises concerns about the future of vaccination efforts.
