In a surprising historical tidbit, Bitcoin historian Pete Rizzo revealed that 15 years ago, you could purchase 12 Bitcoin for just $0.01, a far cry from its current value. This fact sparked reflection in the crypto community about Bitcoin’s journey since its inception in 2009 by Satoshi Nakamoto. Back then, a transaction of 5,050 BTC was exchanged for $5.02, approximately $0.0009 per Bitcoin.

Bitcoin’s price trajectory has been a rollercoaster ride. In 2010, it struggled to surpass $1, with the highest price being $0.39. By June, a single Bitcoin reached $10, then $30 on Mt. Gox. In 2011, it hit $1 for the first time, followed by a spike to over $1,100 in 2013. Subsequently, Bitcoin surged to nearly $20,000 in 2017 and hit a record high of $99,728 in November 2021, currently trading at $95,504.
