Major League Baseball super agent Scott Boras negotiated a record-breaking $765 million, 15-year contract for Juan Soto with the New York Mets, making it the largest deal in professional sports history. Soto will be the first player in MLB history to earn more than $50 million in a single season.

Boras mentioned that many teams were interested in acquiring Soto, citing his rare value and performance. Soto’s decision was influenced by his past performance at Citi Field, where the Mets play, where he had impressive stats with 12 home runs, 26 RBI’s, and a .466 on-base percentage.

Soto’s longest homerun of 466 feet came at Citi Field in 2020. Boras emphasized that for Soto, it wasn’t just about the money but also about routine, performance, and other factors. Soto expressed appreciation for the Mets’ treatment, saying they made him feel like family and impressed him with their approach to comfort and support for him and his family.
