ANZ Group appoints Nuno Matos as CEO, succeeding Shayne Elliott, with extensive banking experience.

Nuno Matos will become the new CEO of ANZ Group on July 3, 2025, succeeding Shayne Elliott. Matos brings over 30 years of banking experience, most recently serving as CEO of Wealth and Personal Banking at HSBC. Elliott will step down as CEO on July 2, 2025, after a nine-year tenure. Matos has held various senior roles at HSBC, overseeing its European business and leading operations in Mexico. He began his career at Banco de Portugal and has worked in multiple markets worldwide, including the UK, US, Spain, and Brazil. Matos will also join the boards of ANZ Group Holdings Limited and Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited as an Executive Director.
