Australia stocks closed higher with gains in the technology and financial sectors. The ASX 200 rose by 0.02%. Top performers included Pointsbet Holdings Ltd, Goodman Group, and Breville Group. However, Platinum Asset Management, Resolute Mining, and Beach Energy were among the worst performers.

Platinum Asset Management hit all-time lows while Breville Group reached all-time highs. The volatility index, VIX, rose by 2.41% to 10.37. Gold futures fell slightly to $2,659.19 per troy ounce, while crude oil prices increased to $67.54 for January delivery.

The Australian dollar remained stable against the US dollar at 0.64 and fell against the Japanese yen to 95.66. The US Dollar Index Futures rose by 0.14% to 105.88, indicating strength in the US dollar.
