Shares of Boeing ($BA) were closely monitored following the tragic South Korea air crash of a Jeju Air Flight 2216, a Boeing 737-800 model, which resulted in the loss of at least 179 lives due to landing gear failure. Approximately 15% of passenger planes worldwide are Boeing 737-800 models used by nearly 200 airlines. Retail sentiment on Boeing stock has turned ‘extremely bearish’ from ‘bearish’ recently, with message volumes spiking. Boeing stock had received price target upgrades earlier this month, with Morgan Stanley and TD Cowen both increasing their targets. Despite this, Boeing stock remains down 28% year-to-date.
