The Flamanville EPR reactor successfully connected to the national grid, generating electricity for the first time on December 21, 2024. Since the first nuclear reaction on September 3, 20241, EDF teams have been conducting tests to increase the reactor’s power gradually. The reactor produced 100 MW of electricity upon connection. Luc Rémont, Chairman and CEO of EDF, praised the teams for their dedication to safety throughout the project. The reactor will undergo further testing and connection phases until reaching full power under ASN supervision. An estimated 14TWh of electricity will be produced before the first maintenance shutdown.
