Private equity firms bid up to 1.2 trillion yen for Seven & i Holdings' non-core assets

Private equity firms, including KKR and Bain Capital, bid between 750 billion yen to 1.2 trillion yen for non-core assets of Seven & i Holdings. KKR bid around 800 billion yen, while Bain offered 1.2 trillion yen, and Japan Industrial Partners bid 750 billion yen for the supermarket assets.
All three firms were successful in the first round of bids for Seven & i’s supermarket assets. The retailer is looking to separate its non-core businesses, including its supermarket operations, under York Holdings. The founding family is in talks for a management buyout to prevent a takeover from Alimentation Couche-Tard.
The bidding process details were not disclosed by Seven & i. The retailer is considering selling off non-core assets to focus on core operations. ($1 = 157.0300 yen)
