The Consumer Products sector is the worst performer midday Friday, up 1.1%. Nike and Lamb Weston Holdings Inc are lagging, with losses of 0.9% and 0.7% respectively. The iShares U.S. Consumer Goods ETF is up 0.7% on the day and 5.46% year-to-date. In comparison, Nike is down 28.27% and Lamb Weston Holdings Inc is down 41.28% year-to-date. The Energy sector is next, up 1.1%, with Valero Energy Corp and Exxon Mobil Corp showing losses. Valero Energy Corp is down 6.17% year-to-date, while Exxon Mobil Corp is up 9.32% year-to-date.
In afternoon trading on Friday, nine sectors of the S&P 500 are up, while none are down. The Financial sector leads with a 2.1% increase, followed by Materials at 1.7% and Healthcare at 1.6%. The Technology & Communications sector, Services sector, Utilities sector, and Industrial sector are also in positive territory.
