Japan stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the Nikkei 225 rising by 1.84%. Top performers included Furukawa Electric Co. (TYO:), Kawasaki Heavy Industries (TYO:), and Fujikura Ltd. (TYO:). However, Kansai Electric Power (TYO:) and Tokyo Electric Power (TYO:) were among the worst performers.
Furukawa Electric Co. (TYO:) reached 5-year highs, while Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TYO:) hit 52-week lows, and Fujikura Ltd. (TYO:) reached all-time highs. The Nikkei Volatility Index dropped by 7.31%.
Crude oil prices saw a slight increase, with January delivery up to $68.35 a barrel. Brent oil for February delivery rose to $72.14 a barrel, and gold futures for February increased to $2,668.99 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY rose to 150.02, while EUR/JPY increased to 157.34. The US Dollar Index Futures also saw a slight rise to 106.49.
