The reform, backed by President Sheinbaum, ensures basic labor rights like a minimum wage and unionization. Around 658,000 workers in Mexico’s digital platform economy will benefit, with 41% already earning above minimum wage.

Drivers with apps like Uber and DiDi express concerns about the reform’s impact on work flexibility. Many drivers work part-time, with 70% driving less than 10 hours a week. While the reforms offer important benefits, some worry about potential restrictions on their ability to work when and how they choose.
