MicroStrategy may not be included in S&P 500 soon due to lack of profits.

Eric Balchunas, Bloomberg’s senior ETF analyst, believes MicroStrategy may not join the S&P 500 soon due to lack of cumulative profits over the past four quarters. However, a new accounting rule could change this by allowing the company to report impressive earnings from changes in the fair value of its fortune.

The S&P 500 inclusion committee needs to approve MicroStrategy’s entry, but they have vague criteria for inclusion. Tesla’s previous exclusion despite meeting requirements caused a stock price drop. MicroStrategy, known for holding Bitcoin, recently joined the Nasdaq-100 index.
