Nvidia completes $700 million acquisition of Run:ai after regulatory approval

Chipmaker Nvidia has completed its acquisition of Israeli AI firm Run:ai after receiving approval from the European Commission for the $700 million deal. The EU antitrust watchdog had warned about competition concerns due to Nvidia’s dominance in the market for AI graphics processors.

The U.S. Department of Justice is also investigating Nvidia’s acquisition of Run:ai on antitrust grounds, following increased scrutiny of tech giants’ acquisitions by regulators on both sides of the Atlantic. Run:ai plans to make its software open-source to extend availability to the entire AI ecosystem.
