Several updated nowcasts for US economic activity in the fourth quarter have been revised higher recently, with a median estimate showing a slight change. Output for Q4 is expected to rise at a 2.1% pace, lower than Q3’s increase. Three of the seven estimates are showing higher rates of expansion, with the strongest estimate at 4.5%. The US PMI Composite Output Index reached a 33-month high, indicating a 4%-plus rise in GDP. Debate continues on the Q4 GDP growth, with the Bureau of Economic Analysis set to release its estimate soon. Recession risk remains low, and the US economy is expanding solidly.
