Scatec closes financing for 60MW solar project in Botswana, with construction to begin.

Scatec ASA has secured financial close for the second 60MW of the 120MW Mmadinare Solar Complex in Botswana, with construction set to begin. The total project cost is estimated at BWP 1.5 billion, with financing from First National Bank of Botswana and the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation. Scatec will own and manage the project, aiming to reduce its long-term economic interest by inviting equity partners. The solar plant near Mmadinare will prevent 48,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually and power around 20,000 households. CEO Terje Pilskog highlights the company’s commitment to green energy in Africa.
