Scotiabank invests $2 billion in KeyCorp for 10 percent stake

The Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS) has completed the purchase of an additional 10 percent stake in KeyCorp (KEY) for $2 billion, at $17.17 per share. This follows an initial investment of 4.9 percent in August. Scotiabank’s President and CEO, Scott Thomson, views this investment as a strategic move to boost returns and shift capital from developing to developed markets. Scotiabank’s stock is currently trading at $53.52, down 0.41 percent on the NYSE.
