The S&P 500 closed higher Tuesday, with tech stocks leading the way. The NYSE will close early for Christmas Eve and be shut on Christmas Day. Chip stocks saw gains after a new trade investigation by the Biden administration. American Airlines briefly halted flights due to a technical issue, while Novo Nordisk slipped after disappointing study results.
BofA clients continued to buy US equities, with $10 billion in inflows. Purchases were spread across individual stocks and ETFs, with large-cap stocks seeing the most activity. Institutional and retail investors increased their equity holdings, while hedge funds were net sellers. The rolling four-week average of inflows from institutional clients hit a nine-month high.
