Taiwan stocks closed lower on Monday, with losses in the technology and industrial sectors leading the decline. The Taiex fell by 0.32% at the close. Top performers included Ares International Corp and Fortune Information Systems Corp, while Arima Communications Corp and Lead Data Inc were among the worst performers.

In commodities trading, crude oil prices rose with January delivery up 0.63% to $67.62 a barrel. Brent oil for February delivery also rose to $71.52 a barrel. Gold futures for February increased by 0.09% to $2,661.89 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD rose by 0.24% to 32.49, while TWD/CNY remained unchanged at 0.22. The US Dollar Index Futures was up by 0.11% at 105.85.
