New Zealand’s financial regulator revealed that Westpac’s local unit admitted to overcharging and misleading over 24,000 customers by not providing advertised discounts, resulting in $3.59 million overcharged. Westpac admitted deficiencies in its systems led to the issue and has provided remediation to impacted customers. The matter will likely be heard in court in 2025.
