South Korea stock market gains as KOSPI closes just above 2,440 points

The South Korea stock market ended a five-day losing streak, with the KOSPI gaining almost 50 points to finish just above 2,440 points. The global forecast for Asian markets is positive, with support from technology and oil stocks. The KOSPI saw gains from financial, technology, and chemical companies, jumping 1.79 percent to close at 2,441.92. Wall Street also closed higher, with the Dow rising 0.80 percent, the NASDAQ climbing 1.77 percent, and the S&P 500 ending 1.26 percent higher. Oil prices rose on optimism for demand outlook, with WTI crude closing at $73.96 a barrel.
