Alaska Air Group reports strong Q4 results with significant improvement in net income.

Alaska Air Group, Inc. reported a net income of $71 million in the fourth quarter of 2024, a significant improvement from a net loss of $2 million in the previous year. The company expects an adjusted loss per share of $0.50 to $0.70 for the first quarter of 2025 and projects adjusted earnings per share to exceed $5.75 for the full fiscal year. Total operating revenue for the quarter rose to $3.53 billion from $2.55 billion a year ago. A new $1 billion share repurchase plan has been authorized, with repurchases starting in January 2025.

Excluding special items, Alaska Air Group’s net income for the fourth quarter of 2024 was $125 million, up from $38 million in the prior year. CEO Ben Minicucci highlighted the transformative acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines and the potential for $1 billion in incremental profit over the next three years. The company recognized employees’ achievements with $325 million in incentive pay for meeting various targets in 2024, equivalent to about six weeks of pay for most employees.
