American Airlines fell short of analysts’ estimates for first-quarter earnings, predicting a wider loss of 20 to 40 cents per share. The airline expects unit costs to rise due to lower capacity, with a 2% decrease compared to last year. In the fourth quarter, American’s profit rose to $590 million on $13.66 billion in revenue, up 4.6% from last year. Domestic and international revenue also saw increases.
