Australia stocks close higher with ASX 200 up 0.52%, Mesoblast Ltd reaches 3-year high

Australia stocks closed higher, with the ASX 200 up 0.52%. Top gainers included Mesoblast Ltd, Appen Ltd, and St Barbara Ltd, while Kogan.com Ltd and Technology One Ltd were among the losers. Overall, rising stocks outnumbered declining ones. Mesoblast Ltd reached a 3-year high. The VIX was down 1.83%.

In commodities, gold futures rose to $2,647.61 an ounce, while crude oil prices increased to $71.93 a barrel for February delivery. The AUD/USD remained stable at 0.62, and the AUD/JPY rose to 97.67. The US Dollar Index Futures dipped to 108.19. The March Brent oil contract also rose to $74.81 a barrel.
