Australia stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the ASX 200 gaining 1.38%. Top performers included Zip Co Ltd, Corporate Travel Management Ltd, and Tabcorp Holdings Ltd. However, Pointsbet Holdings Ltd, Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Ltd, and Sims Metal Management Ltd were among the worst performers.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange, with 651 gaining, 407 declining, and 462 unchanged. The ASX 200 VIX, which measures implied volatility, was down 6.01% at 11.10.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery rose 0.28% to $2,725.49 per troy ounce. Crude oil for delivery in March rose to $78.83 a barrel, while Brent oil contract rose to $82.13 a barrel.
Currency markets saw AUD/USD remain unchanged at 0.62, while AUD/JPY fell to 96.74. The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 109.01.
