D.R. Horton surpasses earnings expectations in Q1 of 2025

D.R. Horton Inc. (NYSE:DHI) exceeded expectations in its fiscal first quarter of 2025 despite a slight decline in revenue and net sales orders. Earnings per share (EPS) of $2.61 surpassed Wall Street’s projection of $2.38, while revenue of $7.61 billion outperformed analysts’ estimates.
Net sales orders for D.R. Horton totaled $6.65 billion, down 2% year-over-year, and homes closed reached 19,059, beating forecasts despite a 1.5% drop. The backlog fell 21% to $4.30 billion, below consensus, but the company highlighted strong housing demand and favorable demographic trends.
For fiscal 2025, D.R. Horton expects revenue between $36 billion and $37.5 billion, plans to close 90,000 to 92,000 homes, and increase cash flow from operations. Shareholders can anticipate approximately $500 million returned through dividends, showcasing the company’s commitment to value creation and growth.
