The ETF industry experienced a historic surge in 2024, launching a record 1485 funds and attracting $1.12 trillion in capital. The growth was driven by unique strategies, low costs, and active management. Bitcoin ETFs dominated new launches, with BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust leading the way with $37.2 billion in inflows.

Options-based ETFs constituted 25% of new launches, focusing on options strategies for enhanced returns and income generation. YieldMax Magnificent 7 Fund of Option Income ETFs and Roundhill S&P 500 0DTE Covered Call Strategy ETF were popular choices. Buffer ETFs, offering downside protection with limited upside, and single-stock ETFs targeting companies like MicroStrategy also gained traction.
