Meta’s Facebook, Elon Musk’s X, Google’s YouTube, and other tech companies have pledged to combat online hate speech under an updated code of conduct now integrated into EU tech rules. The DSA requires companies to do more to combat illegal content, with compliance impacting regulators’ enforcement. Companies must allow monitoring of hate speech notices and assess at least two-thirds within 24 hours, use automatic detection tools, and provide information on recommendation systems. They will also present country-level data on hate speech classification.
