Gemini Trust Company settles with the CFTC, agreeing to pay a $5 million civil penalty for misleading statements made in connection with its 2017 bitcoin futures contract. The company also agreed to a permanent injunction. The CFTC sued Gemini in 2022 for false and misleading statements regarding the bitcoin futures contract they sought to launch. Gemini did not admit or deny the findings.
